Assembly to look at ways to boost the airport
31.01.12
Ways to improve the contribution of Cardiff Airport to the Welsh economy are being examined as part of an inquiry by Assembly Members. The enterprise and business committee is to look at how theycan help develop its potential, after the airport saw a 10% fall in passengers in 2010.
The inquiry will look at the importance of the airport to its local economy and to the economy of Wales as a whole. They will also look for factors that contributed to the decline in passengers at the airport, which has lost more over the last 3 years than any other major regional UK airport.
Steve Hodgetts, the airport's planning and commercial director, said: ‘We welcome the high profile of Cardiff Airport with government and the realisation of its links to the economic wellbeing of Wales. This inquiry provides an opportunity to improve the understanding of how the Government's support can assist in aiding economic recovery.’
