Managers at Cardiff Airport will be looking to replace flights to North America after transatlantic airline Zoom went out of business. The airline had operated a weekly flight s to Vancouver and twice weekly flight to Toronto from Cardiff.
Steve Hodgetts, Cardiff Airport’s commercial director, said the airport was determined to find a replacement service. He said: ‘The flights had been very successful. The priority is to get a replacement for Toronto.’
‘We realise we are probably going to have some issues as there aren’t too many airlines that fly transatlantic routes. This is a tough time for airlines but this is a strong opportunity. There are 2 or 3 airlines that fly to Canada who we will be speaking to and there is a worldwide routes conference where we will be pitching Cardiff as an opportunity.’
