A plane load of holidaymakers returning to Cardiff Airport touched down more than 24 hours late earlier this week - forcing many to miss work and cancel other arrangements.
140 passengers on bmibaby flight WW2968 to Cardiff from Murcia, Spain, were checked in as normal and queuing to get on the flight when they were told that the plane had a mechanical problem and they had to wait for it to be fixed.
The passengers were not told how long it would take to fix the plane, and waited in the terminal for a number of hours. Once it became clear that the flight would not take off on Sunday evening, the passengers were taken to an airport hotel for the night. However, they then had to pay €10 for a taxi from the hotel to the airport the next day, before another long wait at the airport.
The passengers eventually took off after a delay of more than 24 hours and landed at Cardiff Airport 24 hours and 25 minutes late. Nobody from the airline was available for comment.
