Plans for a new air service between Belfast City and Cardiff Airport have been scrapped because the airline behind the proposal, Air Wales, is stopping all of its scheduled passenger services. The airline admitted that it is finding it hard to compete with other low cost airlines, and announced that it would stop scheduled flights on 23rd April.
Air Wales currently operates flights from Belfast International to Cardiff Airport on behalf of bmibaby. However, that arrangement comes to an end this weekend, when bmibaby takes back the running of the service. Air Wales had planned to launch a competing route between Belfast City and Cardiff. This route will not now take off.
