Fog problems at UK airports are expected to begin to ease today, as the weather begins to improve. More than 1,000 flights were cancelled in recent days after freezing fog caused chaos at Heathrow and other airports. In all, 411 flights were cancelled yesterday, including more than 284 flights at Heathrow.
Although Heathrow was the worst affected, flights at other airports including Gatwick, Norwich, Bristol, Cardiff, Coventry and Southampton have also been disrupted by fog in the past few days, with many others suffering knock-on effects on flights to or from these airports.
The current (09:30) position at Cardiff airport is as follows:
Cardiff has had several flights cancelled and others delayed. Some flights are being diverted to alternative airports such as Bristol and Birmingham due to fog. The airport is warning that diversions to aircraft will cause delays and cancellations to both incoming and outgoing flights. See www.cwlfly.com.
