Airport keen to benefit from Flybe's European expansion
23.07.10
New routes from Cardiff Airport to European business cities could be on the agenda after Flybe announced this week that it was investing in up to 140 more planes. The regional budget airline already flies 11 routes from Cardiff, including Paris, Belfast and Edinburgh. It signed a deal today to buy more planes to allow it to expand in to Europe, with destinations including Dusseldorf, Lyon and Frankfurt targeted as it focuses on the business market.
Steve Hodgetts, Cardiff Airport's business development director, said: We are keen to examine the possibility of expanding Flybe's operation from Cardiff Airport to offer more routes and frequency to our customers. There is great demand for services to business and leisure destinations in Europe including Germany and France, and Flybe would be ideal partners to work with. We would welcome discussions with Flybe about how expanding the airline's operation would benefit Cardiff Airport and Wales as a whole.’
