Lembit Opik a pilot and Montgomeryshire MP, best known outside political circles for dumping weather presenter Sian Lloyd and taking up with one of the Cheeky Girls, has called for the proposed daily air service between north and south Wales to make a scheduled stop in Mid Wales at Welshpool Airport.
Mr Opik, the leader of the Welsh Liberal Demorats, said it could benefit the region by bringing in high spending business leaders and international tourists.
Last month a Scottish airline Highland Airways announced it will operate the new air link between Anglesey in the north and Cardiff Airport in the south. The two weekday flights service is expected to cost about £50 each way.
