bmibaby has axed a month of flights between Cardiff Airport and Barcelona this winter. The ‘summer route' would normally have finished at the end of October, but because of low demand and high fuel prices, the airline has 'suspended' flights from October 4.
Passengers who had already booked and paid for flights have had them switched to Birmingham, nearly 200 miles away, with some also having their flight dates changed. If they are unhappy with the changes, they have been offered full refunds.
A spokesman for Cardiff Airport said: ‘We are disappointed when any airline suspends flights. However it is important to note that Barcelona is suspended during October only and not cancelled as the service was only scheduled to run during the summer period. '
