Cardiff Airport introduced new rules on the drop off and pick up of passengers. Drivers are now able to drop off passengers outside the terminal building, making access to the airport more convenient.
However, pick-up of passengers will still take place in the short stay car park. This is to comply with Department for Transport (DfT) regulations forbidding unattended or waiting vehicles outside airport terminal buildings. The first 20 minutes in the short stay airport car park will still be free of charge.
Signs and security measures have been installed to inform passengers of the new rules. Approaching the airport, drivers are directed into a dedicated lane leading to the short stay car park. A second lane leads to the 'drop off' area directly in front of the terminal.
Graeme Gamble, Director of Operations at Cardiff Airport, said: ‘Our aim is to be as passenger friendly as possible, and the new road access is a welcome step forward for the passenger experience.’
