Zurich flights to have Bristol stop off
10.11.11
Helvetic's Cardiff - Zurich route will include an additional stop at Bristol Airport from next month. The airline first launched the route in March, hoping to attract business and leisure passengers. However, after lower than forecast passenger demand on the four days a week (three in winter) flights - with the 100 seat planes averaging a 30% occupancy - the service will now stop off at Bristol from December 5.
The head of commercial operations at Cardiff Airport, Spencer Birns, said: ‘By attracting business passengers from Bristol they are sharing the risk of the route during the winter months. However, they have told us that there were be no differentiation on ticket prices between Cardiff and Bristol.’
The stop-off at Bristol will add over 30 minutes to journey times for those using the service from Cardiff.
