New Skybus plane takes off

10.06.08

Skybus, Cornwall's longest-serving airline, has taken delivery of a new aircraft. The Twin Otter will serve the airline's existing Land's End to Isles of Scilly route, as well as new services to Cardiff Airport and St Brieuc in Brittany from Newquay.

The 19-seater plane was flown over from Atlanta in the US and has recently been on training flights for the airline. Chief pilot Richard Ashby, who flew all the tests before the aircraft was brought into service, said it was a great addition to the airline's fleet.

Skybus now has a fleet of six planes, which operate regular flights to the Isles of Scilly from Land's End, Newquay, Exeter, Bristol and Southampton. Two new routes from Newquay Airport were launched in March, extending Skybus's services to include Cardiff and St Brieuc.
