Cardiff Airport closed its runway at 11.10 today (Friday) for snow clearance. Deteriorating conditions at the airport caused the closure to be extended to at least 12:45, with no current information on the airport's website on when the runway might reopen.
The airport said in a statement: 'Inevitably, [the runway closure] will cause delays to flights. However, passengers are asked to check in as normal and are advised to allow extra time to travel to the airport, as surrounding roads are congested and difficult. If you are expecting to meet passengers on arriving flights, you are recommended to check the live arrivals service on the website [click on the link above].'
The airport was closed yesterday between 06:30 and 11:30 due to bad weather which caused delays to all their flights. As it is the rugby airlift weekend there are extra chartered flights that will be delayed.
