Parents with young children travelling via Cardiff Airport can now buy baby milk in the terminal's departure lounge, after security checks. This will allow them to overcome the problems and inconvenience caused by security rules limiting the volume of liquid allowed to be carried by passengers in their hand luggage.
Passengers travelling from UK airports are allowed to take no more than 10 100ml containers through security checkpoints. They must be placed in a transparent, resealable plastic bag. Although the passengers can also carry liquid baby food or sterilised water sufficient for the journey can also be taken through airport security, the accompanying adult is required to taste each bottle at security.
Now Cardiff Airport has started selling 250ml SMA White and Gold baby milk in ready-to-use containers both before and after going through security. The cartons cost £1 each and warming facilities have also been made available.
Margaret James, the airport's customer service manager, said: 'We recognised the problem caused by the security measures, and have taken steps to ensure that parents are provided with the services they require.'
