Charity received £700 donation for emergency exercise help

Cardiff Airport has donated £700 to Ty Hafan as a thank you for offering volunteers in a emergency training exercise carried out at the hub as a part of its licensing requirements.
The airport needed volunteers for an exercise held at the end of last year, and Ty Hafansent sent along willing helpers to play passengers and their families caught up in an aircraft accident. The airport donated £10 per volunteer to the charity, which provides comfort, care and help to life-limited children, young people and their families throughout Wales.
Airport Contingency Planner Avril Brown explained: ‘Under our licence with the CAA, we have to carry out regular emergency exercises, to make sure that both the airport and local authority emergency services have the skills to cope with a serious aircraft incident. We have struggled previously to find people to participate in exercises as the volunteers are required to spend lengthy periods on the airfield or within the terminal building.'
‘Ty Hafan offered their assistance and rallied the troops in return for a donation to help raise much-needed funds. We are delighted to be able to give a contribution to the charity and wish to thank everyone who took part in the exercise.’
