A record 2 million passengers passed through Cardiff Airport last year, making it one of the UK's fastest-growing airports. During 2006 the airport recorded a 13% increase in passenger numbers, despite bad fog affecting flights in the run-up to Christmas and the security scare in the summer.
The airport only just reached its target and might have achieved even more impressive passenger figures had flights run more smoothly, spokesperson Peter Phillips said. Double-digit growth is expected to continue in 2007, with new routes to Barcelona, Nantes and Kos already announced.
