Public invited to meeting on airport radar move
04.02.10
Cardiff Airport has invited members of the public to its next Airport Consultative Committee meeting to raise any issues or concerns regarding its project to erect a new Air Traffic Control radar tower.
The airport has been working on the radar tower project for the past 18 months. It will be erected on the south side of the airfield adjacent to the fire training ground, and is being repositioned in order to comply more fully with the Civil Aviation Authority requirements and to improve radar coverage for aircraft safety.
Ground level works have been underway for several weeks, and a crane was used to erect the 20 metre tower last week. The next step is to add the radar head on top of the tower, with the new system expected to be turning from May / June for testing, and the project completed in July, when the new radar will be fully operational.
The meeting to discuss the radar move will be at the airport on Monday, February 15, at 18:00. For more information visit www.tbicardiffairport.com.
