Villagers opposed to a possible route for a new link road to Cardiff Airport met to discuss the plans on Thursday, the BBC reports. Around 150 people attended the public meeting at Pendoylan in the Vale of Glamorgan. They are opposed to any plans to build a 3 lane road through the area from the M4 to the airport.
Tony Williams, a former councillor for the area told the BBC: ‘As far as local people are concerned this trunk road is unwanted and unnecessary. We're opposing this scheme to put a trunk road right through the ancient and historic parish of Pendoylan which will sever the Ely valley. It is scheduled as an area of special countryside and also contains Sites of Special Scientific Interest.’
A delegation of villagers was to meet the local AM and assembly minister Jane Hutt yesterday to discuss their concerns.
